My first trip to India was for a conference, so I did not really have much time to travel around. I managed to sneak out one afternoon, but most of the photos were taken on the only free day I had which was a mad rush around to see as many places as possible. Luckily, it is full of taxi drivers willing to take you everywhere and especially to spots where no other taxi drivers will take you (only to get there and find lots of other tourists who were probably told the same :-)

I visited only a small part of Goa and spent a few hours between flights in Mumbai. I guess my trip did not really give me the chance to experience too much of India and I have to go back at some point :)

Panaji

Panaji

Panaji is the capital of Goa. Not a particularly nice place, but not ugly either. It's an ok place to spend a few hours, but I doubt there is much to do there. Many buildings in Panaji are poorly maintained which is quite a shame because they seem to be very nice.

Old Goa

Old Goa

Old Goa is the former capital of Portuguese India. It's a nice place to stop for a few hours to admire the churches and Portuguese architecture. If you go there, make sure you go to see the church on the top of the hill. It offers a great view. That's the place where your taxi driver will tell you that normally cars do not go, but you will find it full of tourists.

Spice plantation

Spice plantation

If you have time make sure you visit a spice plantation. You will learn a lot of interesting things (do you know where the pineapple grows? :D and you can also have the chance to try some really nice food. If you have time, spice plantations seem a really nice place to chill out.

Mahalsa temple

Mahalsa temple

We stopped for a bit at Mahalsa temple, but our taxi driver did not give us any explanation. Even without details, I am very happy we stopped in this place.

Mumbai

Mumbai

A very unfair and inexact representation of Mumbai because I took these photos on a Sunday afternoon when the city is much quieter than usual and I had only about one hour before it got dark. Even thought I did not spend too much time in Mumbai, I am glad I did not stay at the airport as you are allowed in the airport only a few hours before your flight.
